{"id":3697,"date":"2017-08-30T08:25:27","date_gmt":"2017-08-30T13:25:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.maplewoodbarn.com\/?p=3697"},"modified":"2017-08-30T08:25:27","modified_gmt":"2017-08-30T13:25:27","slug":"mark-durrant-stage-dedication","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maplewoodbarn.org\/index.php\/2017\/08\/30\/mark-durrant-stage-dedication\/","title":{"rendered":"Mark Durrant Stage Dedication"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3695 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.maplewoodbarn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/Mark.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"187\" height=\"285\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3>Join us at 7:45 pm on September 9th for\u00a0a special memorial dedication of the Maplewood stage\u00a0to the\u00a0memory of Mark Durrant.<\/h3>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Mark Durrant<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Mark Oliver Durrant&#8230; was born June 1, 1957, in Lynchburg, VA.<\/p>\n<p>He married Leslie Van Oort on April 16, 1983.<\/p>\n<p>Mark was a dedicated, caring pharmacist and podiatrist.<\/p>\n<p>He graduated from Ohio State University with his Bachelor of<\/p>\n<p>Science degree in 1981. He practiced pharmacy at the Wade Park<\/p>\n<p>VA Medical Center, in Cleveland, for several years. Desiring to<\/p>\n<p>further his education, he enrolled in the Ohio College of Podiatric<\/p>\n<p>Medicine, graduating as valedictorian in 1987. He completed a<\/p>\n<p>two year podiatric surgical residency in 1989 at Doctor&#8217;s Hospital<\/p>\n<p>in Denver, Colorado.<\/p>\n<p>He entered into private practice for several years, later moving<\/p>\n<p>to Cadillac, Mich., to provide podiatric care to nursing home<\/p>\n<p>residents of northern Michigan. He especially enjoyed providing<\/p>\n<p>care to geriatric patients. At the time of his death, Mark was<\/p>\n<p>employed as s clinical pharmacist at Truman Memorial Veterans&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Hospital in Columbia.<\/p>\n<p>Mark loved the theatre and was an active thespian. He was active<\/p>\n<p>with the Footlighters Community Theatre of Michigan. After<\/p>\n<p>moving to Columbia, he became active with the Maplewood Barn<\/p>\n<p>Community Theatre. He actived in eight shows at the Barn over<\/p>\n<p>the span of five seasons, culminating with his portrayal of<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Sanderson in &#8220;Harvey&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>He was an active member of Midway Locust Grove United<\/p>\n<p>Methodist Church, where he directed and acted in the<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Last Living Supper&#8221;, a Holy Week drama. He also sang in<\/p>\n<p>the church choir.<\/p>\n<p>Mark was a volunteer at the D&amp;D Farms Wildlife Rescue,<\/p>\n<p>accompanying his daughter, Rachel, in helping to care for<\/p>\n<p>exotic animals. Mark loved animals, including his three<\/p>\n<p>dogs and cat. During his limited spare time, Mark also<\/p>\n<p>enjoyed golfing, gourmet cooking, travel and cheering on<\/p>\n<p>his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.<\/p>\n<p>Mark was a loving husband, a much-loved son, father,<\/p>\n<p>brother, co-worker, and friend to many.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Join us at 7:45 pm on September 9th for\u00a0a special memorial dedication of the Maplewood stage\u00a0to the\u00a0memory of Mark Durrant.
